In this narrative animation, I explored the challenging topic of addiction abstractly. The stark contrast of the greyscale and reds reflects complicated aspects of drug abuse. It is a visual representation that substance addiction is not just black and white, but has an extra complexity. I discovered that cross-hatching and rougher line art parallels the chaotic nature of detoxing. While this animation is a narrative of one female, it opens the door to a broader conversation of addiction and how it may be a cycle of detox and relapse.
